Who is my neighbour?

am i the one who showed mercy on him? or am i just standing there, asking questions

ref: Luke10:29-37

lazy day

just took fudge out for a walk
and then immediately after the clouds came and it's now a cool and windy day

respite from the heat and the humidity

i absolutely love it

just the kinda day to laze away and just enjoy being at home
wish there were more days like these.

not right, nor wrong...

... but left

i am a left-hander

that makes me unique. Sometimes i can't thank God enough for making me so

Sure, i've endured a lifetime of ink smudges on my hand,
i sometimes get confused in giving directions,
i get in the way of the right-handed chopstick user sitting next to me
those swing tables attached to chairs in lecture theatres are quite useless to me
and sometimes using a scissors can be challenging

however,
i'm one of between 13-30% of the worldwide population (talk about minority!)
i've got a very large list of famous (and infamous) lefties to keep me company
writing hebrew would be no problem for me
i'm in my right mind. ;)

back to work

gonna be a busy week,
next presentation is coming up on monday and we've gotta make this thing work!

msn is so totally not working at all now. Even the frustrating msn2go! so there goes all my contact with the outside world.

how can architects claim to be concerned with bigger things (eg. global, urban issues) when they are themselves isolated from them?

Chinese, more or less

doing the interior for an exhibition on being chinese

the irony of it all

i'm having difficulty sourcing textiles for a feature wall... how would i know what's chinese?

went through the exhibits for the chinese timeline. makes me appreciate the history of the chinese more, but i don't feel any more chinese, nor do i feel any strong desire to identify with China.

feels more like : Chinese, less and less

long weekends

long weekends are balms to the soul, irregular breaks that give you enough time to do more than a regular weekend.

had a fun time with my friends driving down and staying with me for the weekend. Took them all over the city looking at the buildings in town and a few out of town. It's just so easy to entertain architects!

made me miss the good 'ol days as an overseas student. Felt sad when they left. But next time i'll be the one going up to visit them, huttah!

cold mornings

one thing i appreciate, being back in a warm country, is the lack of discomfort when i get out from under the covers in the morning.

non of that sad, rubbing of hands and walking around in slippers. or fearing a midnight call of nature. :P

architects and bureaucrats

just don't mix

if the former leads you end up with a building that possibly might not work and might alienate the public... if you let the latter lead you end up with buildings that are too, well, boring and polite.

we crave edgy stuff! We want something that makes a statement... lets offend, but in a way that evokes intellectual response. A simple, 'that's ugly' just doesn't cut it... 'it was meant to be ugly, NEXT!' will be our retort

or rather, let us create beautiful stuff, that decorates the neighbourhood and no, (we politely say) we cannot refer to a guidebook on how to make beautiful stuff. Unlike your rules and regulations sometimes you just gotta search within yourself to know what makes people tick

or ticked off

back to work

being back to work on a saturday is an unusual feeling

it's like the week never came to an end

working on a sunday as well is just as weird
coz then you know you'll be back in the same place on monday as well

somehow you just need a break... God had it right in making sure people set aside one da of rest

breaking the habit

my office has installed a firewall to prevent viruses from getting in

however, as a result we can't use msn anymore.

computers remain virus free, productivity will probably go up but everyone will have to feel out of touch with the world for a while.

it's not ALL that bad i guess. ICQ2go still works... though only a fraction of my friends still use it. :P

never reaslied how much msn was keeping me going though. I mean, i wouldn't really wanna work overtime if there isn't some way of keeping touch with the world around me in general.

but yeah... maybe i'm just being fussy.

we'll survive... and i've still got my incredibly fun and friendly colleagues
